Grand Duchy of San Ferdinandea (Granda duklando de Sankta Ferdinandea) is a micronation that claims souvereignthy over Ferdinandea island (Mediterranean) and its overseas territory Coronation island (South orkney islands). It also considers that all of its possesions including palaces, embassies, headquarters ect. to have a extraterritorial status. The micronation was founded to serve as a model country. The Grand Duchy is not in any way associated with Sicily, Italy or any of their governement(s) offices or officers.

History

The origins of the Grand Duchy of San Ferdinandea is shrouded in mystery. Although there is no concrete evidence for this claim, to some sources it came into existence during the alliance of the seapeoples mentioned for the first time in the Egyptian Medinet Habu scriptures.

Graham island, owned by the Grand Duchy, caused a great international dispute between several countries because of its useful position in the mediterranean trade route and its close position to Spain and Italy. Spain, Italy, France and the united kingdom all claimed the island and tried to annexed it. The Grand Duchy of San Ferdinandea always rejected such claims and condemned military actions as agressions toward a sovereign and democratic nation.

On 15th of april 1986 the U.S airforce "accidentally" bombed the island after mistakenly identified it as Libyan submarines. This incident is known to the Ferdinandese as "tago de agreso". The grand duchy of San Ferdinandea never received official apologies.
