The Theodemocratic Sovereign Province of Zion is a province within the Republic of the Kingdom of Ya'akova. It is located near the eastern border of the nation and is the national religious Capital of the Nation.

History

Zion has been the name of many projects and organizations, but in Ya'akovim understanding it signifies "[being] of one heart, and of one mind, and [dwelling] in righteousness and [having] no poor among them" (Moses 7:18).

Zion was one of the first the names of the land which the original settlers of the region, the Pioneers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or Mormon Pioneers, had given it.

When the Republic was founded, the land was a organized into a single territorial unit known as "Grand Ya'akoim Deseret". With the passing of time and the anticipation to form provinces, when the Province of the Sacred Valley of Deseret was founded, the people called for another new province; one that would be united in the purpose of being industrious, caring for the poor, and dwelling in truth and righteousness. Thus, they left the Sacred Valley of Deseret and went to settle the region they later gave it the name Zion.

Government

When the people arrived in Zion, they did not write a constitution, but rather they simply formed their own provincial government. They began to experiment with a form of government known as "Theodemocracy." In this form of government, they determined that only clergy leaders, from whatever religion, were to be the leaders of the province. They were to be elected by a simple majority vote for a term of 1 year.
